  HOMEWORK AND KIDS?

  is it me or....................do you think our children are being overwhelmed with all the extra homework they are recieving from school now?

  i have 2 kids.

  one being 15 and the other being 12. i just find that the homework load is so much, compared to when i went to school.i mean we are talking about at least 2 hours for my oldest son and 1-2 hours for the youngest.

  Yes, I agree; my children also get what I consider to be a lot of homework.

  But it is reletive to the child and their abilities.

  My 12 year old daughter is exceptionally brite and is in all advanced placements ( definite scholarship material) she handles all the homework, reports and projects in a snap! We are never concerned.

  My 9 year old son, smart as a whip, would rather be out playing and requires constant supervision to complete assignments. This is a daily battle.

  Yes, there is much homework. However, look at the enormous amount that this generation has to learn. There is global competition in everything, and they have more contend with ( on many levels) than our generation.

  you know that you have become the worst of those leaving, when you start to celebrate holidays.. i remember a few times hearing people talk in the hall about someone leaving.

  missing meetings, being spiritually weak, etc people could handle.

  they could even handle it if someone got df'd for having sex, or drinking, or whatever.

  yes, I agree,

  the last time a Jehovahs Witness called at my door was last Christmas. It was during the Iraq war and I proudly flew an American flag from my front porch. His incredulous comment to me was " You were a witness and you have this flag?" and as I invited him into my living room ( I was very polite to him, offering coffee on such a cold day) he saw the grandest christmas tree ( 8'-0" tall, with full decorations) and the look of contempt on his face was---so Jehovah Witness--I have all the answers--smug. I told him I really was not interested in his message, but as a former pioneer I understood his calling. By this time, his veneer had run a bit thin and his thinly veiled contempt was obvious when he left. I realized at that juncture that practicing JWs reserve a special bit of dislike for those of us who have moved on with our lives.

  The holiday was that much more fun.

  my parents started it all when I was a year old, and converted their families too.

  When I learned to think for myself ( risky in those days) I left at 21

  Demonized objects

  ok, if you have belief in the teachings of demonized objects than my photo attachments should confirm your beliefs.

  if you do not believe than please explain my photos as so many sciences have tried and failed.

  this is not a trick and the transformations are real and this carved rock is of unknown form, very high density, harder than jadeite and has been dated to pre 17th century or older.

  When I was a kid growing up as a JW, my parents would not have and "antiques" in the house --not any family heirlooms or pieces from my grandparents---because they were concerned ( for no apparent reason) that they would be what the Watchtower described as a "beachhead" for the DEMONS!! Oh no! DEMONS!!!

  Now that I am not a JW, I have my entire home furnished with antiques ! ( no demons though)

  Kindness.....how much does it take?

  with each and every different job/career we do, none of us escape without a constant interaction of other people, its part of the thread of life in a way.

  most we interact with along the way are sometimes pleasant out of necessity, some are out of courteousness, some are "just because" they have to "force" a smile back when we flash one their way.

  the most thoughtful are the ones you might forget in your day who took the initiative to smile or say a kind word to you first.

  Welcome aboard! As Joy2bfree said earlier, you have a few bumps ahead, so be prepared. Keep your chin up and move on.

  When they come at you, just remember the scene from the Wizard of Oz "Pay no attention to that man behind the curtain; I am the great and powerful Wizard of Oz!" And remember that all they are is smoke and mirrors ( not even that!)

  Status Change ...?

  okay, and this weekend was extra grand because my new dance partner and i have quite hit it off ... his name is john.

  this weekend was the weekend that we decided to move the relationship to the next level, past the dance partnertm stage, and into the coupletm stage!

  dancing and wining and dining and wooing his way into my heart for the past couple of months.http://www.harrisonresort.com/ ) it rained most of the weekend and we did not seem to notice ... hmmmm.... it seems estee is officially part of a "couple" now .... *sigh* .

  and may I add that they can only do to us what we let them do. To view them from a different perspective: They can only govern us if we "empower" them to do so.

  If we do not recognize them as having control over us or our lives; they are powerless..

  Low Meeting Attendance Means Wrongdoing!

  did anyone ever come across the idea that meeting attendances were an indication of how much spirit jehovah was giving or witholding from the congregation?.

  ..and that this was directly related to whether or not there was any secret wrondoing within the congregation that was "blocking the spirit" and thereby restricting the "increase"?.

  yes, Englishman,

  The congregation I attended ( Huntington, Long Island, New York) was in a residential neighborhood. It was discoverd that the neighbors daughter and her boyfriend were using the KH parking lot to park their car at nite ( not visible from the road) and have a little "fun" .

  After leaving the faith, many years later, my Dad, who was an elder, told us that there were many meetings with the CO over this issue and the CO kept emphatically telling all the local elders that "no wonder Jehovahs spirit is not on this congregation, ". They spoke to the girls parents and prohibited them from entering the parking lot.

  In hindsight, it is all so ridiculus.
